These are the Uzbek archives. Informative posts and tales from a mystical land, steeped in ancient history, legend and not a small amount of myth.
I have long dreamt of visiting this incredible Central Asian country. The jewel of the Silk Road. How fantastic and magical the names of the cities sound – Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva… I am transported to a different world. One of magic carpets, gold and spices, endless deserts traversed by tireless camels and ancient buildings shining blue and turquoise.
Finally, in 2019, my dream to visit the first of the ‘Stans came true and Uzbekistan became the first Silk Road country I have explored. It was every bit as magical and fascinating as I’d imagined, but Uzbekistan is also a country going through much change.

I hope to share my experiences from this as yet relatively unknown country and encourage people to visit.
Get ready to journey to Uzbekistan with me! You’ll take the golden road to Samarkand, ride a camel and experience some things you may be less sure about… But remember, that’s all part of the adventure!
